Product Description
The Bendix 288251N QR-1 Quick Release Valve is a heavy-duty pneumatic braking component designed to reduce brake release time in commercial vehicle air brake systems. By allowing compressed air to exhaust directly at the valve instead of traveling back through the controlling brake valve, the QR-1 helps provide faster, more responsive brake release.
Featuring a 3/8-inch threaded exhaust port, the 288251N accommodates compatible exhaust plumbing arrangements where an open-exhaust quick release valve is not suitable. Its compact design, dual delivery ports, and durable construction make it an effective replacement for compatible commercial truck and trailer braking systems.
The valve operates automatically in response to changes in control air pressure. When pressure is applied, the internal diaphragm directs air to the brake chambers. When control pressure is released, the valve opens its exhaust passage, allowing air to escape quickly and helping the brakes release efficiently.

The threaded exhaust is an important distinguishing feature of the 288251N. Unlike QR-1 valves with an open exhaust, this configuration provides a threaded connection for compatible exhaust arrangements.
Common cross-reference numbers include Bendix 288251, 288251X, and 288251RX. These references should be checked for configuration and condition before substitution.
Before ordering, verify the existing valve part number, supply and delivery port sizes, exhaust configuration, and mounting requirements. Quick release valves are available with different port sizes and pressure characteristics and are not universally interchangeable.
