The Bendix K078420 ATR-6 Automatic Traction Relay Valve is a heavy-duty pneumatic and electronic braking component designed for commercial vehicles equipped with anti-lock braking systems (ABS) and automatic traction control (ATC). This valve combines conventional relay valve operation with electronically controlled traction functionality to help maintain braking performance and improve traction under challenging road conditions.
Working with the vehicle's electronic control system, the ATR-6 manages compressed air delivery to the drive axle brake chambers. During normal braking, it operates as a relay valve to provide responsive brake application and release. When traction control is activated, the integrated solenoid allows the system to apply braking pressure to a spinning drive wheel, helping transfer available torque to the wheel with better traction.
The K078420 features 12-volt electrical operation, a 5.5 PSI crack pressure, and multiple air delivery connections. Its durable construction and integrated electronic controls make it suitable for demanding commercial trucking environments.
