The Bendix 228600 SL-4 Stop Light Switch is an electro-pneumatic pressure switch designed for heavy-duty truck, tractor, trailer, bus, and commercial vehicle air brake systems.
Working together with the vehicle's service brake valve and stop-light circuit, the SL-4 senses air pressure when the brakes are applied. At approximately 5 PSI, the switch closes its electrical contacts to illuminate the vehicle's brake lights. When brake pressure is released, the contacts reopen and turn the stop lights off.
The 228600 features a compact, durable design with a 1/4-inch NPT air connection and two electrical terminals. Its pressure-operated design provides a simple and dependable method of activating brake lights on vehicles equipped with pneumatic braking systems.
