The Bendix 2500397 Hydrovac Brake Booster is a Third Series single-piston vacuum/hydraulic brake booster designed for older commercial vehicles equipped with vacuum-assisted hydraulic brake systems.
The Hydrovac uses engine vacuum to increase hydraulic braking force, reducing pedal effort while providing additional braking assist for medium-duty trucks and other commercial vehicles. The 2500397 features a compact 6-3/4-inch diameter housing and measures approximately 14-5/8 inches overall.
This configuration uses 1/2"-20 hydraulic inlet and outlet connections, a 3/8-inch pipe-thread vacuum connection, and a perforated breather. BEPCO lists the 2500397X configuration for Chevrolet, Dodge, Ford, and GMC vehicle families.
Because older Hydrovac boosters can look very similar while using different port arrangements, lengths, and vacuum connections, verify the original part number and physical configuration before ordering.
