The 2770255 Hydro-Max I Hydraulic Brake Booster is a heavy-duty hydraulic brake assist unit designed primarily for Ford medium-duty trucks equipped with hydraulic braking systems. The Haldex remanufactured replacement is sold as RV2770255X.
The Hydro-Max system uses hydraulic pressure supplied by the vehicle’s power steering or hydraulic system to multiply driver pedal force, providing dependable power-assisted braking for commercial vehicles where greater braking force is required.
This configuration features a centerline hydraulic inlet with a 3/4"-18 O-ring tube-seat connection and a 1/2-inch inside-diameter push-on return hose connection. The 2770255 also has a provision on the booster body for mounting the electric motor relay, which helps distinguish it from similar Hydro-Max I units.
Bendix later superseded the original 2770255 Hydro-Max I booster with 2771558. Because several Hydro-Max boosters are visually similar, verify the original part number, hydraulic connections, master-cylinder configuration, and mounting arrangement before ordering.
