The Bendix 102657 AD-2 Air Dryer Thermostat Maintenance Kit is designed to rebuild the thermostat assembly used on compatible Bendix AD-2 air dryers.
The thermostat controls operation of the air dryer heater during cold-weather conditions. When temperatures drop, the thermostat activates the heater to help prevent moisture around the lower air dryer assembly from freezing. Proper thermostat operation helps maintain dependable air dryer performance in winter conditions.
Bendix identifies 102657N as the current service-new Thermostat Maintenance Kit for the AD-2 air dryer. The original Bendix service bulletin states that the kit services both 12-volt and 24-volt AD-2 thermostat assemblies.
The kit contains:

The 102657 thermostat kit is also used on compatible Bendix AD-4 air dryers with a single-terminal thermostat configuration. AD-4 dryers using the dual-terminal insulated-ground thermostat require Bendix 103982 instead.
Important Service Note:
The heater element itself is not replaced by 102657. Bendix specifies that if the heater element fails its resistance test, the complete air dryer end cover must be replaced. If the heater tests correctly but the thermostat does not operate properly, 102657 is the appropriate thermostat service kit.
