The Bendix 800154 ST-4 Air Compressor Safety Relief Valve is a heavy-duty pressure protection component designed for compatible commercial vehicle air compressors. Featuring a factory-set 250 PSI opening pressure and a 1/2"-14 NPT threaded connection, this valve helps protect compressor components from excessive pressure caused by restricted or blocked discharge lines.
The ST-4 safety valve operates automatically through a spring-loaded mechanism. Under normal operating conditions, the valve remains closed. When pressure exceeds its specified opening threshold, the internal piston opens to release compressed air into the atmosphere, helping prevent potentially damaging pressure buildup within the compressor cylinder head.

The Bendix 800154 is installed in the appropriate unused compressor discharge port to provide emergency pressure relief. It is intended as a protective component rather than a device for controlling normal compressor operating pressure.
This valve is commonly associated with Bendix compressor applications and cross-references including Caterpillar 1245572, Cummins 109914, International 3513051C1, and Volvo 3969352.
Before ordering, verify the existing safety valve part number, pressure rating, and connection thread. The 800154 uses a 1/2-inch NPT connection and must not be confused with ST-4 valves featuring metric or straight-thread O-ring connections.
Important product distinction: Bendix 800154 has a 250 PSI pressure rating and 1/2"-14 NPT male connection. It should not be confused with the similar Bendix 800019 valve, which has the same thread size but a 150 PSI pressure rating.
If the safety valve repeatedly releases pressure, inspect the compressor discharge line and associated air system components for restrictions or other malfunctions. Never plug or disable a compressor safety relief valve.
