Product Description
The Bendix 801116 ST-4 Safety Relief Valve is a heavy-duty pressure protection component designed for compatible commercial vehicle air compressors. Featuring a factory-set 250 PSI relief pressure, this valve helps protect the compressed air system against excessive pressure by automatically releasing air when the specified pressure limit is reached.
Designed for certain Bendix BA-921 compressor configurations, the 801116 features a 7/8"-14 UNF straight-thread O-ring connection for secure installation and reliable sealing. Its spring-loaded construction provides automatic pressure relief, while durable brass and stainless steel components resist corrosion and wear in demanding commercial vehicle environments.
Unlike an air compressor governor, which regulates normal compressor loading and unloading, the ST-4 safety valve provides a separate pressure protection function.

The Bendix 801116 is used with certain older BA-921 compressor cylinder heads equipped with a 7/8-inch straight-thread O-ring safety valve port. It is also identified in Bendix documentation for specific compressor configurations associated with Caterpillar engines.
Bendix later standardized many BA-921 compressor configurations to use a smaller 1/4-inch safety valve connection. For this reason, the 801116 should not be assumed to fit every BA-921 compressor.
Before ordering, verify the existing valve part number, pressure relief setting, thread diameter, and compressor cylinder head configuration. Do not substitute a valve with a different pressure setting or thread size.
A safety valve that repeatedly opens may indicate a compressor governor or air system malfunction. Diagnose the underlying cause rather than relying on the relief valve for normal pressure regulation.
