Product Description
The Bendix K101596N001 Remote Diagnostic Unit (RDU) is a compact, portable diagnostic tool designed to help technicians identify and troubleshoot anti-lock braking system (ABS) problems on compatible commercial vehicles. Using a series of illuminated LED indicators, the tool displays ABS diagnostic trouble codes and helps identify malfunctioning components without requiring a laptop or advanced diagnostic software.
Designed for Bendix ABS-equipped semi-tractors, straight trucks, buses, and motor coaches, the RDU connects to the vehicle's diagnostic port and communicates with the ABS electronic control unit (ECU). Its straightforward operation makes it a valuable tool for commercial truck repair shops, fleet maintenance departments, and service technicians.
The K101596N001 can also clear supported ABS diagnostic trouble codes and initiate ECU self-configuration using its magnetically activated reset function.

When connected to a compatible vehicle, the RDU briefly illuminates its indicator lights while establishing communication. A green indicator confirms communication, while combinations of red LEDs identify active ABS faults and their associated component locations.
The magnetic reset feature allows qualified technicians to clear supported diagnostic trouble codes or initiate ECU self-configuration. These functions must be performed according to Bendix service procedures.
Bendix K101596N001 superseded the earlier K101596 diagnostic unit and added compatibility with EC-80 controllers. The newer Bendix K101596N002 is listed as its subsequent replacement.
Before ordering, verify the vehicle's ABS controller and diagnostic connector configuration. This tool is intended for compatible Bendix ABS systems and is not a universal diagnostic scanner for other ABS manufacturers.
