The Bendix 2513493 is a Fourth Series tandem-diaphragm Hydrovac brake booster designed for older medium- and heavy-duty commercial vehicles equipped with vacuum-assisted hydraulic brakes.
The Hydrovac uses engine vacuum to increase hydraulic braking force, reducing the amount of pedal effort required to stop a heavily loaded commercial vehicle. Its tandem-diaphragm design provides greater vacuum-assist capacity than smaller single-diaphragm Hydrovac units.
The 2513493 is a frame-mounted assembly featuring a large 12-3/4-inch diameter vacuum housing and an overall length of approximately 24-3/4 inches. Haldex lists the RV2513493X remanufactured equivalent with a 5/16-inch inverted-flare hydraulic connection, 1/2-inch grommet-style connection, 3/4- or 1-inch air-cleaner connection, and 1/2-inch NPT vacuum connection.
