The Bendix 280758 TR-3 Inversion Valve is a pneumatic control valve designed for heavy-duty truck, tractor, trailer, and vocational vehicle air brake systems. It is commonly used in spring-brake and emergency-control circuits where the valve must reverse, or “invert,” the relationship between control pressure and delivery pressure.
With common control and supply pressure, the TR-3 opens its inlet as pressure falls to approximately 45 PSI and opens its exhaust as pressure rises to approximately 60 PSI. With constant supply and variable control pressure, the inlet opening pressure is approximately 30 PSI. This operating behavior allows the valve to automatically control downstream spring-brake pressure based on changes in system pressure.
The 280758 uses a 1/4"-18 NPT supply port, 1/4"-18 NPT delivery port, and 1/8"-27 NPT control port. The exhaust is protected by a dust shield, and the valve uses two approximately 0.28-inch mounting holes for installation. Bendix rates the valve for operation from approximately -40°F to 200°F.
